Title or Location: Mech
I started off producing Sumi-e (calligraphy and ink paintings) and was approached about producing anime inspired work for Anime Cons. "Mech" is the result of this endeavor. In it I wanted combined the Japanese cultural esthetic of Kawaii and against a slightly dark post-apocalyptic theme and background. The girl is young and dressed in a "cute" gym outfit with matching pink hair, gloves and shoes. She exudes a slight air of "innocence" which is at odds with the background showing collapsed b

Title or Location: Quiet Desperation
This painting/illustration was created for my Art Therapy course taken at Edinboro University. The directive was to create a picture with words that described both sadness and hope. Watercolors seemed a fluid medium to use in expression of sad emotions. While the lettering of calligraphy showed hope. The quote from Henry David Thoreau about quiet desperation and verses from Amy Grant's Everybody Needs a Helping a Hand seemed a perfect balance. This is one of my favorite Art Therapy projects.

The carnation is one of two flowers for January... The inspiration for my painting of a red and pink carnation came from the emotions these flowers represent. The bold red symbolizes love and admiration, while the soft pink brings to mind gratitude and warmth. I loved how these two colors complement each other, creating a mix of strong and gentle feelings. As I painted, I focused on the delicate layers of the petals and how the colors blended, trying to capture both the beauty and the emotion th

Title or Location: White Winter
A memory of winter 1963. As a child the snowfall that year was magical. The pond nearby was frozen and the trees laden with clumps of snow. The challenge in painting this in watercolours was to leave white and create the snow with the shadows.
